“Guantanamo Bay”

I want to bring to your attention a horrific injustice that is happening inside our military prisons.  The Associated Press has reported that the U.S. military had been using a very snaring tactic in its war on terrorism.  In 2003 the military began using auditory assaults on its detainees.  Their method?  For up to 20 hours a day they blister rock music inside their cells.  Groups like Nine Inch Nails, AC/DC, Queen, Rage against the Machine and Massive Attack hit the prisoners like a “sonic bludgeon”.

Detainees in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay are experiencing suicidal thoughts and feelings of rage and anger.  It is no surprise that Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, who authorized this torture, said that it was done to “create fear, disorient and to prolong capture shock”.  One detainee has spoken up and testified that in the CIA’s “Dark Prison” in Afghanistan the prisoners wound up screaming and smashing their heads against walls, unable to endure more.

I suggest we write our congress to show support of the detainees.  This seems to be in humane.  Why would our military go to such great lengths to insure insanity in the detainees?  Why would they allow this type of torture?  These human beings will never be the same again.  They will be scarred for life with these images of anger, rage, malice, death, torment and grief.  The worst of all is that this extreme extent of torture leaves them hopeless.

There is one more question I have.  Why would anyone buy this music for their or their children’s pleasure when our U.S. military uses it to torture of the world’s most extreme terrorist?  AC/DC has sold over 65 million records in the U.S. alone to men, women and teenagers.  What type of effect do you think this “torture” will have on them or you?
